Our specialists are available by appointment via online consultations.

How does it work?

Telehealth is widely used and has many benefits. Not all appointments are suitable especially if patient requires physical examination. If that is the case, a time for examination can easily be arranged at another time.

There are several different programs available. At present, we are using software. Prior to your appointment you will receive a link via SMS or email to click on to take you to the virtual waiting room and appointment. You don’t need to download any software in advance.

What equipment is needed?

  • A computer/smartphone or tablet with an attached or inbuilt web camera
  • A reliable internet connection/4G
  • An attached or inbuilt microphone (ideally, but if not the telephone can be used instead)

What is the cost of telehealth appointments?

Usually the cost is the same as face-to-face consultation costs.

Payment is required to be collected prior to your Telehealth appointment. Rebates will be processed after your consultation (if eligible).

Your acceptance of your telehealth appointment indicates your acceptance of all practice and Medicare requirements for telehealth.

Should you accept to proceed with a Telehealth appointment you agree to the following:

  • I agree to the assignment of the Medicare benefit (where applicable) being paid directly to my treating specialist.
  • I understand my child’s and my personal information is protected by law, including the Privacy Act 1988, and is collected by the Australian Government Department of Human Services for the assessment and administration of payments and services. This information is required to process your application or claim. Your information may be used by the department or given to other parties where you have agreed to that, or where it is required or authorised by law (including for the purpose of research or conducting investigations). You can get more information about the way in which the department will manage your personal information, including our privacy policy.

To ensure the best possible communication between you and your child’s doctor, it will help if you also:

  • Use headphones – it makes it much easier for us to hear you!!
  • Sit as close as you can to your modem or server
  • Close all other browsers and applications on your computer, phone or tablet while attending your consultation
  • Ensure that you are in a quiet room with adequate lighting – now is not the time to wander outside for some fresh air!
  • Ensure that your room is as free of noise as possible – turn off your TV, radio, phone, etc.
  • Ideally, have someone around to watch children while you attend to the consultation BUT… we know that kids will be kids, so some noise and disturbance is to be expected. Just make sure there is plenty to keep them occupied during the consultation (i.e. books, colouring in, other toys) Your child will need to be in the house for the consultation but does not need to be in the room with you!
